Central Ohio Coon Hunters Association was founded in 1948 by a small group of friends who ran coon dogs and hunted. They purchased the property at 6995 Coonpath Rd and in 1956 built the first building. Over the years the gun range and pond were added along with support buildings such as the barn and archery storage building.
In the 1990’s an Archery club joined with the Coon Hunters and this has been a well-respected venue for 3-D archery with State-wide tournaments hosted on our grounds as well as local events.
The purpose of the organization is the advancement of conservation, propagation of wildlife, upholding and assisting in enforcement of game laws of the State of Ohio and education of the public in the principles and importance of conservation. The organization works to prevent destruction of property by sportsmen and others and cooperate with landowners to promote good relations between landowners and sportsmen.
The property is nearly 55 acres with a 2 ¾ acre pond. We stock the pond for anglers to enjoy fishing success. There is a gun range for target shooting. Hikers enjoy the 47 acres of woods with an Indian mound at the high point of the property. Members can contribute by joining various committees which are established to maintain the property and facilities or help with various events such as Turkey Shoots or Hay Rides.
Central Ohio Coon Hunters Assn. is a family friendly, welcoming club.
